Psalm 119:94 - I am yours; save me, for I have sought your precepts.
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
Welcome to our 2014 Tri-State Tournament. We are so very excited you are here and earnestly hope that this is not only a fun illed weekend for you, but a faith
building experience as well. Right off the bat I want to encourage you and your team to come to worship on Saturday night at 5:30. This is the most important
event of the whole weekend as we gather from all over and as Christians from a variety of denominational traditions to worship Christ. On Sunday in our 8 A.M.
service we will have the Lord’s Supper for those who would like to receive Christ’s gifts in the Sacrament of the Altar.
This year at Immanuel we have been focusing in on the theme of Trust. We are using Hebrews 2:13” I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold, I and the
children God has given me.”
Trust is important in so many aspects of life. Trust earned and trust given are extremely important in team sports and in life. However, Trust in God is of the
upmost importance. This is where our verse for Tri-State comes in. Psalm 119: 94 “I am Yours, save me.” The idea that we could have enough trust in God alone
to truly say and know these words is beyond comprehension. Think about what this confession is saying.God, I am Yours to serve Your greater purpose.no
matter what happens to me, I know that You (God) are in charge and are using my life to save others. Relinquishing one’s life to God’s purpose is the most trusting
thing we can do. We also know that this cannot be done on our own, but by the working of the Holy Spirit in us through the Word we are grown in this faith and
trust.
My prayer is that this trust is grown in you, even in a small way, this weekend as we fellowship and worship together. Amen.
